Comfortable relaxed hotel, very courteous and helpful staff, superb cooking, relaxed pool area, and lots to do in the area. We visited the historic terme, took the funiculare to montecanti alto, & visited Florence and Pisa as well as havong a good look around the spa town of Montecanto Terme itself which is very old-world glamorous with an array of interesting architecture from different eras, a beautiful modern art museum and lots of entertainment. The town is slightly sloping but easily cycled, and there are lots of trees and shade to walk in , and we used the hotel bikes to cycle around the terme park. All in all a great holiday. The train runs from ten minutes from the hotel by foot to the major Tuscan cities. The hotel was the basis of it all. We would have stayed longer if we could.

This hotel is a very slightly faded turn-of-the-20th-century grand hotel in a slightly faded spa resort. (I like places like this.) The grand facade leads to the columned reception, which leads to an equally grand formal dining room. Staff--some of them there for thirty years keep everything clean and neat: the dinner and breakfast waiter was later out on the terrace raking up and removing every stray leaf that had blown in during the night. The breakfast is a fine buffet including house-made fruit dessert tarts, fresh fruit, and ham, cheese, and read and pastry. While the room did not live up to the public spaces. it was spotless, clean, and neat.

The reception staff were excellent. We dealt mainly with Serge. He was very knowledgeable, efficient & helpful. The food (both breakfast & evening meal) was tasty, good value for money & we would recommend it. The restaurant staff were friendly & nothing was too much trouble. The barman was lovely & efficient too. This was my third visit to Monticatini Terme. The first hotel was good, the second hotel sadly was lacking but the Hotel Settentrionale Esplanade was the best. The location was perfect. I would definitely stay here again & encourage friends to do so too.

The location, room, and overall aesthetic of the hotel were beautiful. The room and bathroom were super clean and comfortable. I had the scallops and pasta for dinner one night at the restaurant, and it was honestly the best pasta I've ever had during my three visits to Italy! I also loved the jazz music playing, it added such a nice touch of elegance to the hotel. I was traveling alone for the first time and had felt a bit nervous about it, but I felt super safe at the hotel and would definitely stay again.

Very nice location and property. The living is across the road but with the lift it is manageable. Rooms were very spacious and high enough space. Toilet in one of the room was very good with a stand up shower. The English speaking staff (Sergio) was super helpful and kind. Very easy check in and check out. The town was a hidden gem with good food.
